2. Division of Wildlife Resources Lands
The Division of Wildlife Resources acquires and manages land for wildlife purposes. There is some interest in providing for more extensive public input when the division
contemplates acquiring land and in the development of land management plans.

3. Species Protection
In the 1997 General Session, the Legislature enacted HB 359, "Endangered Species
Mitigation Fund," to provide money for activities related to the protection of endangered,
threatened, and sensitive plant and animal species. Ms. Clarke will describe the kinds of
activities that may receive funding and explain the purpose of those activities.

4. Falconry Proclamation
The Division of Wildlife Resources has drafted a new falconry proclamation. The proclamation will be reviewed by the regional advisory councils before it is considered and
adopted by the Wildlife Board. Mr. Kimball and falconers will discuss issues relating to the new
proclamation.

Environmental Issues
Dr. Nielson will briefly discuss the areas of responsibility of the Department of Environmental Quality and will introduce the division directors. She will also inform the
committee of current environmental issues. The public is also invited to notify the committee of
environmental issues of which it should be aware.
