9:00 a.m. 1. Approval of April 23 Minutes
9:05 a.m. 2. Tobacco Suit Update
Many state attorneys general have recently filed suits against tobacco
companies. The committee will be briefed on the status of Utah's legal
challenge and the implications of any potential settlements.
9:45 a.m. 3. Coordination of Tobacco Programs
The committee will review the coordination of tobacco education,
prevention, and cessation programs in the state.
10:30 a.m. 4. Utah Health Policy Commission
The committee will receive a report on the commission's 1997 study
agenda.
10:50 a.m. 5. Privatization of Services
The Department of Human Services has requested the committee's help in
determining whether services provided by the department should be
privatized. The committee will be introduced to this issue.
