Highway Patrol Staffing
During the 1997 General Session, the Legislature passed HB 243, "Appropriation for Additional Highway Patrol Troopers," by Rep. Adair.
HB 243 provided $350,000 of the requested $3.8 million for five new FTE
effective July 1, 1997. Information will be presented on issues affecting
workload and staff needs.

Highway Patrol Laptop Computers
During the 1997 General Session, the Legislature passed HB 242, "Highway Patrol _ Computer Purchase," by Rep Adair. HB 242 appropriated $200,000 for computer hardware, software, maintenance, and training for field troopers.
The Legislature began providing laptop computers for field troopers beginning
in 1995. Information on the status of this computerization project will be
presented.
