1. Call to Order - The meeting was called to order at 9:10 a.m.
The meeting was an open discussion between the Native American Legislative Liaison
Committee and the Ute Business Committee, the governing body of the Ute Tribe. The
Business Committee briefed the Legislative Committee concerning the activities and
status of the Uintah Basin Revitalization Fund. Other topics discussed at the meeting
included jurisdiction issues, a history and current status on litigation involving the Ute
Tribe, the current boycott of Roosevelt City, education, and other related issues.
During the meeting, the two committees took a brief recess during which they witnessed
the formal signing of a Child Welfare Agreement between the Ute Tribe and the State of
Utah, with Governor Mike Leavitt representing the state, and Chairman Ron Wopsock
representing the tribe.
2. Adjourn - The meeting adjourned at 12:00 p.m.
