1.    Committee Business
    .    Approval of minutes of May 20, 1997
    
2.    Agreement to Exchange School Trust Lands
    On May 8, 1998, Governor Leavitt and Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt signed an agreement to exchange school trust lands within the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, the Alton coal field, national parks and forests, and Indian reservations for federal lands and mineral interests and a payment of $50,000,000. Mr. Terry will explain the provisions of the agreement.

3.    State Water Development Commission
    The State Water Development Commission will terminate on December 31, 1998. The committee will consider the reauthorization of the commission and whether its composition and duties should be modified.

4.    Preservation of Open Space
    
In the last few years the Legislature has grappled with issues relating to the preservation of open space. Previous studies and legislative actions will be reviewed. Activities of the Utah Critical Land Conservation Committee will also be discussed.
