1. Call to Order - Chair Tanner called the meeting to order at 2:17 p.m.

Committee Business -
MOTION: Sen. Muhlestein moved to approve the minutes of the July 15, 1998 meeting. The motion passed unanimously.
Chair Tanner explained to the committee that agenda item 4, Office of State Debt Collection, would not be heard at this meeting because of disagreements on this issue among executive branch
agencies. The chairs directed the agencies to meet and work through the issues and return with a
proposed solution.
Rep. Tanner turned the chair to Sen. Mansell.
3. Judicial Debt Collection - Mr. Fellows introduced the amendments to the Judicial Debt Collection Amendments draft bill that were mailed to the committee.
Mr. Tim Shea, Administrative Office of the Courts, explained the amendments to the draft bill titled "Judicial Debt Collection Amendments." He said the amendments are designed to
differentiate responsibility of the courts, Department of Corrections, and the Office of State Debt
Collection, and who will be responsible for collecting the debts.
Ms. Gwen Anderson, Office of State Debt Collection, spoke in favor of the amendments.
MOTION: Rep. Murray moved to adopt the proposed amendments to the Judicial Debt Collection Amendments draft bill. The motion passed unanimously.
MOTION: Chair Tanner moved that Judicial Debt Collection Amendments be adopted as a committee bill as amended. The motion passed unanimously.
4. Office of State Debt Collection - This item was not heard at this meeting.
5. Adjourn -
