The Department of Human Services has sought but not received funding to replace the Utah State Hospital building used to deliver pediatric mental health services. The Committee will consider a proposal to develop community-based services in lieu of replacing the pediatric facility.
3:10 3. Health Disparities
Health care access, treatment, and outcomes vary significantly across population subgroups. In 2004 the Legislature created the Center for Multicultural Health within the Department of Health to promote and coordinate research, data production, and education on issues related to racial and ethnic minorities and other population subgroups. The Committee will review the significance of health disparities in Utah and what the Center for Multicultural Health and others are doing to address them.
