State Impact:
The creation of a 3rd Degree Felony for a third DUI violation within 10 years will add both to the cost of incarceration and to probation and parole costs. Inmate
costs for three additional offenders per year are estimated at $31,300 each year. Supervision of those given probation is $13,800 which the offender should pay for.
When inmates are added to the system, there are downstream costs to the Board of Pardons and Corrections for increased sentence hearing and parole caseloads.
Increased workload in the second year will costs $49,900.
