State Impact:
The cost of DCFS contracts with peace officers to perform these investigations and handle cases involving removal of children from their homes is estimated at $886,000. This would be offset by savings estimated at $118,900 (General Fund amount). It is doubtful that federal Title IV-E funds would be available for investigations made by individuals not under direct supervision of DCFS.
