Please do not pass HB 131 out of committee. It is too expensive, it is ill thought out, it has not been vetted, it has not been tested, there is zero empirical evidence that it will improve education, it violates privacy, it makes it harder for Utah to get out of Common Core should we decide to do so in the future, it makes statutory some things that should be decided by the state Board and thus ties their hands, and according to some estimates it will cost many times what the sponsor claims it will. Not to mention that all the digital devices will be outdated within two years and will need to be replaced regularly. It’s irresponsible, it’s reckless, and it’s completely unacceptable to Utah voters.
