Subject: Please vote NO on Partisan State School Board Elections
Date: Thu Mar 06 21:43:30 MST 2014
First, thank you for your vote last night to support nonpartisan school board elections.
As a Republican delegate who understands the value of the caucus/convention system AND as an elected official elected through a nonpartisan process I ask you to vote NO on Partisan School Board Elections.
3 reasons to vote NO
1. The Utah Constitution Article X, Section 8 states: No religious or partisan test or qualification shall be required as a condition of employment, admission, or attendance in the state's education systems. State School Board Members after elected are employees of the state’s education system.
2. The majority of work done by State School Members is in procedures, rules, and UPPAC recommendations – none of these items are partisan in nature.
3. There are many misconceptions on the amount of budget money that the state school board actually spends. The majority of the state’s budget allocated to public education flows to districts – NOT THE STATE SCHOOL BOARD.
Please vote NO on Partisan State School Board Elections.
If you would like more information on the type of business done by the state school board, please call me. I have been an active parent observer for the past 4 years.
Thank you for your service,
