Mr. President:

    The Revenue and Taxation Committee reports a favorable recommendation on S.B. 178, INCOME TAX AMENDMENTS, by Senator H. Nielson, with the following amendments:
1.    Page 1, Line 8:    After "INCOME;" delete "REQUIRING TAXPAYERS TO ELECT TO SUBTRACT" and insert "MODIFYING SUBTRACTIONS"

2.    Page 1, Line 9:    After "INCOME" delete "EITHER" and insert "RELATING TO"

3.    Page 11, Lines 310
    through 313:    Delete lines 310 through 313

4.    Page 11, Line 314:    At the beginning of line 314 insert " (m) " and after " (i) " insert " if an individual claims the federal standard deduction on the individual's federal individual income tax return for the taxable year, "

5.    Page 11, Line 316:    After " (ii) insert " if an individual itemizes deductions on the individual's federal individual income tax return for the taxable year, "
