Representative Aagard called the meeting to order at 2:15 p.m.

MOTION:    Rep. Garn moved to approve the minutes of the January 19, 2007 meeting. The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Allen, Rep. Biskupski, Rep. Grover, and Rep. McIff absent for the vote.


H.B. 17    Child Support Bond (Rep. L. Fowlke)

Rep. Fowlke introduced H.B. 17 and explained it to the committee.

Spoke in favor of the bill:    Stewart Ralphs, Director, Legal Aid Society of Salt Lake

MOTION:    Rep. Garn moved to pass H.B. 17 out favorably. The motion passed unanimously.


H.B. 112    Utah Council on Victims of Crime (Rep. S. Wyatt)

Rep. Wyatt introduced H.B. 112 and explained it to the committee.

Rep. Aagard relinquished the chair to Rep. Fowlke.

MOTION:    Rep. Wyatt moved to amend the bill as follows:

1.    Page 3, Line 64:        After "composed of" delete "26" and insert "24"

2.    Page 3, Lines 84 and 85:    Delete lines 84 and 85 and renumber sections accordingly

The motion passed unanimously with Rep. Aagard absent for the vote.

Rep. Aagard resumed the chair.

            Ron Gordon, Director, Crime Victim Reparation
            Mel Wilson, Utah Council on Victims

MOTION:    Rep. Allen moved to pass H.B. 112 as amended out favorably.

SUBSTITUTE
MOTION:    Rep. Biskupski moved to amend the bill as follows and pass it out favorably.

Page 1, Line 12:    After "creates a" delete "26" and insert "24"

The motion to amend the bill and pass it out favorably passed unanimously.


S.B. 24    Probate Code Amendments (Sen. R. Romero)

Sen. Romero introduced S.B. 24 and explained it to the committee.

MOTION:    Rep. Fowlke moved to pass S.B. 24 out favorably. The motion passed unaimously.

MOTION:    Rep. Garn moved to adjourn the meeting. The motion passed unanimously.

Rep. Aagard adjourned the meeting at 2:53 p.m.
